NY Sen. Schumer bets on debt-ceiling deal before A-Rod’s return
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), an avid Yankees fan, predicted on Monday that Congress will strike a deal on the debt ceiling before injured slugger Alex Rodriguez is again sporting pinstripes on the baseball diamond.
A-Rod is undergoing surgery on his knee to repair a torn meniscus. The New York Yankees announced he’ll be sidelined for at least a month. The Obama administration’s deadline for an agreement on the debt ceiling is Aug. 2.
Schumer: “Let’s put it like this — I predict we will have a compromise on [raising the debt ceiling] before A-Rod comes back to play. That’s three to six weeks.”
ITK will be monitoring this bet, though we’ll throw one more in the mix: Will A-Rod, a noted playboy, still be with actress Cameron Diaz when he returns from the disabled list?
