Big Cheese Truck given
the boot for Obama

By Judy Kurtz - 07/25/11 07:35 PM ET

The Big Cheese Truck on Monday was forced to move from its spot at Farragut Square for D.C.’s big cheese — also known as President Obama.

The food truck, known for such delicacies as a watermelon feta salad and chevre with lemon fig spread, tweeted on Monday, “[Metropolitan Police Department] asked us to relocate to the other side of the park. Looks like Potus is getting ready to roll through.” Obama was in the area to deliver remarks at the National Council of La Raza at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

After making the move to the corner of 17th and K streets, the Big Cheese Truck lobbied the president to show its cheesy treats some love: “@BarackObama your motorcade is within earshot. Stop by Farragut Sq. [and] grab a grilled cheese on us.”

Although the commander in chief didn’t drop by, the Big Cheese Truck didn’t seem too bummed. It followed up with a tweet on Monday that said, “Come get your cheese on.”
