Durbin does his thinking on Eastern Market bench

In the midst of debt-ceiling negotiations on Saturday, Senate Majority Whip Dick DurbinDick DurbinDems press ITT Tech to give students right to sue Puerto Rico debt relief faces serious challenges in Senate Funding boost for TSA sails through committee MORE (D-Ill.) revealed that sometimes lawmakers need to unwind: “This morning, as many members of the Senate, I wanted to get away from this place and spend a few minutes reflecting on something other than the give-and-take of the political debate.”

He then disclosed exactly where he whips up a little R&R, saying, “I got up early, walked over to Eastern Market, bought a cup of coffee and sat on a bench for about three hours just watching people walk by and trying to clear my mind.”

Three hours of people-watching while plopped down on a bench doesn’t exactly sound like paradise to ITK. Someone send the senator to a spa!
