McCaskill tells her kids: Don’t txt me 4 $$$

By Judy Kurtz - 09/07/11 08:16 PM ET

When it comes to her cash, Sen. Claire McCaskill is old-school. The Missouri Democrat advised her kids of some new guidelines when requesting dough: “I had to impose a new rule: You cannot get money by text message.”

McCaskill handed down her public no-dollars-over-the-phone proclamation while gushing about the importance of written letters at a Senate Homeland Security meeting on the U.S. Postal Service on Tuesday.

The mom of three kids and stepmother of four further explained the need for laying down the law, saying, “I mean, they didn’t even — they weren’t having — we weren’t having conversations. I was getting like this gibberish spelling, need money T number 2DAY. You know, it’s ridiculous.”
