Carney loses his fancy, new glasses

Jay Carney couldn’t hold onto his brand spanking new specs. 

The White House spokesman admitted to reporters on Monday that the glasses he debuted just two weeks ago might have been the victim of a drive-by incident (of sorts), saying, “I was buying my son a bike for his birthday … I think when I was taking it off the bike rack at home, that I had — I had my sunglasses on, I had the other ones, and I think I put them on the bumper and then drove off.”

Carney’s dark-rimmed eye decor had received rave reviews from the White House press pool when Carney initially unveiled them in late August. Reporters heaped praise on Carney’s new look, calling it “hipster.” 

Now the focus for Carney is pulling enough moolah together for a new pair: “I’m going to try to rustle the money together, because I do need — I do need the prescription — the new prescription back.”
