Rep. Steve Israel and his staff are about to have a finger-licking feast.
The congressman took on fellow New York Democratic Rep. Kathy Hochul in a battle of the state’s NFL teams. Hochul bet some genuine Buffalo wings that the Buffalo Bills would win in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. Israel offered up some Long Island pizza in the friendly wager.
The congresswoman’s spokesman said she will either ship a sampling of Duff’s Famous Wings, based out of Amherst, N.Y., to Israel’s D.C. office, or else schlep them there herself next week. And for calorie-conscious staffers, Hochul said in a statement to ITK, “I’ll even bring some Orleans County apples to make it a healthy meal.” No word on whether she’ll also supply some wet wipes to go with the messy munchies.
Meantime, Israel didn’t exactly bask in his Buffalo wing win. He said of his colleague, who won a special election against Republican Jane Corwin in May, “Although Congresswoman Hochul’s team lost a close game, the country is better off because Congresswoman Hochul knows how to win close elections. I can’t wait for my authentic Buffalo wings.”
