Dilemma for two political lovebirds: Avoiding an Election Day wedding

By Judy Kurtz - 10/31/11 07:33 PM ET

The district and communications director for Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) is officially off the market.

Aviva Gibbs tied the knot with Tom Bowen on Saturday in front of 160 guests in her hometown of Chicago. The wedding was held at Spiaggia Restaurant, one of President Obama’s favorite dining spots in the Windy City.

Gibbs and Bowen are forming quite the political power couple. Bowen is the executive director of the New Chicago Committee, the political arm for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, which led to some tricky scheduling when the pair were picking a wedding date.

Gibbs told ITK, “We faced an issue that not many couples do in trying to find a date that wasn’t going to conflict with a municipal or primary election. We realized every other year the weekend will be election weekend.”
