Spelling slip-up plagues letter to supercommittee

By Judy Kurtz - 11/16/11 08:22 PM ET

Too bad there’s no spell-check for the names of U.S. senators.

The office of Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Pa.) tried to rile up support from the supercommittee for her Medicare physician payment plan in a Wednesday letter to the panel.

The only problem with Schwartz’s message to her colleagues? Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) gained the letter H in his name. The congresswoman’s note accidentally misspelled the minority whip’s moniker.

But the congresswoman is probably not alone in her spelling snafu. An independent and very unscientific poll by ITK of all the Jons she could think of found that virtually all of them have had their names written as “John” at one time or another.
