DC named best place to meet eligible ladies

If you’re a guy who’s single and ready to mingle, Men’s Health magazine claims you’re in the right place.

The male-minded mag recently named Washington the best place in the entire country to meet eligible women — calling the District “where the babes are.”

Writers at the publication said they examined a few factors in order to determine that D.C. is a bachelor’s dating mecca: the ratio of single ladies to single men, the percentage of college-educated women, the amount of women who currently hold jobs and the number of Washington women who sweat it out at the gym.

Washington beat out the No. 2 city in the rankings, Portland, Maine. It also bested Boston and Seattle, which took the third and fourth spots, respectively.

But while Men’s Health said the nation’s capital has a “monumental number of eligible women,” the Capitol might not be the best area to find them.

Of the 435 members of the House, just 76 are female. And of that small bunch, we counted only 15 women who aren’t sporting a wedding ring.

As far as the Senate — the odds just got worse. With the recent engagement of Sen.
