Capitol visitors ticked after saying tours delayed twice

By Judy Kurtz - 03/07/12 09:04 PM ET

WE HEAR: A group of sightseers at the Capitol was none too pleased after getting their tours bumped by two separate security concerns Tuesday morning.

First, a suspicious package at the historic building led to delays of about an hour. A U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman would only confirm to The Hill that an unattended purse was left in the Senate side of the Capitol on Tuesday.

But later that day, the same visitors had their tour postponed again (in the name of safety, that is) as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made his way through the Capitol.

Our insider tells us, “People were very p----d. Many left as they did not have time to go again and they had other plans and other tours to do.”
