Rodents take a liking to congressman’s office

By Alicia M. Cohn - 03/19/12 08:11 PM ET

Staffers for Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) are “flipping out” over how rodents have invaded their office, but they aren’t getting much sympathy from the boss.

A tweet from the lawmaker’s staff on Monday morning reported that the office had caught its seventh mouse in the last four months.

Gosar’s staff is understandably a bit grossed-out, though his aides reported that the congressman finds it “hysterical” that they are “flipping out.”

Perhaps Gosar isn’t the one who is, ahem, disposing of the pesky rodents.

But Gosar’s staffers are nonetheless having some fun with it: They tweeted a sly hashtag that might refer to more than just mice on Capitol Hill: “Proof that #DCIsCrawlingWithVermin.”

“The mice in the building are among the least pesky scavengers in this city,” Gosar said Monday morning, according to his office. “There are a lot of people around here who are looking to take more than breadcrumbs at the taxpayers’ expense.”
