Sen. Kyl reflects on turning an ‘ancient’ age

By Judy Kurtz - 04/25/12 07:50 PM ET

Age might just be a number, but don’t remind Sen. Jon Kyl of his particular digits.

The Arizona Republican became a septuagenarian on Wednesday, turning the big 7-0.

But when ITK attempted to wish him an early birthday on Tuesday, the lawmaker’s face feigned mock (we think) horror. When asked how he felt about his birthday milestone, Kyl replied, “I don’t feel a bit older, frankly. I feel really good today.”

He then added with a laugh, “Until you reminded me that I was turning the ancient age of 70!”

Kyl announced in February that he’s retiring from Congress at the end of his current term.
