Bum knee doesn’t keep ex-lawmaker from taking part in DC tennis match

By Judy Kurtz and Kate Oczypok - 07/18/12 05:09 PM ET

WE HEAR: Scheduled knee replacement surgery next week didn’t keep former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) from jumping for high balls Tuesday at the Washington Kastles Charity Classic in Southwest D.C.

Breaux seemed in high spirits despite a wrapped-up left knee as he teamed up in a doubles match with former Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.). The political pair played against ABC News’s Jonathan Karl and Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier in a friendly competition that raised money for three charities.

The news duo bested the ex-legislators.
