Jesse Ventura: 'I might' run for president

By Judy Kurtz - 09/17/12 12:06 PM ET

Forget November: former Gov. Jesse Ventura (I-Minn.) is already looking at 2016.

The wrestler-turned-politician, who hasn’t held elected office since he chose not to seek a second term as governor in 2003, hinted to the hosts on “The View” Monday that he might make a run for the White House.

When asked by Barbara Walters if he was going to run again, Ventura replied, “I might.”

When pressed, Ventura said, “I won’t answer yes or no right now. But if I do run for president four years from now, I will run as an individual with no political party, so if you vote for me you don’t have the baggage of these two gangs coming along, and I make my own decisions, and I’m not beholden to these gangs running the country.”

It’s not the first time Ventura, who was promoting his book, DemoCRIPS and ReBLOODlicans, has publicly floated the idea of running for president. He made mentions of the possibility in a 1999 autobiography and earlier this month on a radio program.
