Rep. Honda staffers find love (again and again)

By Judy Kurtz - 09/18/12 09:14 AM ET

Love is certainly in the air in the office of Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.).

We hear the congressman’s executive assistant, Daniel Oliver, popped the question to Gloria Chan during a trip to Las Vegas last month. Chan is a former Honda staffer and current president and CEO of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies.

The couple plan on putting their boss to work next year — he has agreed to officiate their wedding.

Honda tells us in an email, “These two love birds are a great match. Daniel and Gloria belong together, and I’m happy to have played the matchmaker!”

The future bride and groom aren’t the first pair to find love in Honda’s office in Longworth.

Another set of staffers, Vivek Kothari and Erin Watari, are poised to take the plunge in the near future. And the lawmaker’s senior congressional aide, Mark Nakamoto, also recently became engaged to fiancee Teressa Martel.
