Tweeting diplomat dines on cheesy meal

By Judy Kurtz - 09/21/12 10:16 AM ET

SPOTTED: Arturo Sarukhan, Mexican ambassador to the United States, dining with his wife and a group of more than 10 others Thursday night at Assaggi Mozzarella Bar in Bethesda, Md.

After the table ordered platters of mozzarella and prosciutto, the diplomat — who in 2009 became the first member of the D.C. diplomatic corps to open a personal Twitter account — was eyed splitting a plate of tagliatelle pasta with prosciutto, peas and a parmesan cheese fonduta with his spouse.

The diners, all dressed to the nines in elegant business attire, ended their meal with a traditional limoncello digestif.

No word as to whether Sarukhan dug his cheese-centric meal — he made no mention of it on Twitter.
