Gingrich and wife seen sharing escargot

By Judy Kurtz - 10/08/12 01:22 PM ET

altApparently fried squid isn’t the only thing that Newt Gingrich is willing to share with his wife, Callista — he’ll also split some snails with his spouse.

The former GOP presidential candidate and his wife were spotted dining al fresco Friday at chic French eatery Bistro Vivant in McLean, Va.

We hear that along with the escargot, the couple, both donning dark suits, jointly indulged on olives provencal, beet salad and the whole Mediterranean branzino.

In an interview last year with People magazine, Gingrich’s grown daughter, Jackie Gingrich Cushman, praised her stepmom Callista’s influence on her father, saying of her dad, “He now shares his calamari. It’s a silly thing, but he’s more relaxed.”
