Bo Obama gets his own (unauthorized) blog

By Christina Wilkie - 12/02/09 07:06 PM ET

Bo Obama, President Barack Obama’s one-year-old Portuguese water dog, has a new (unauthorized) blog, www.goodboybo.com.

The blog is written as though seen through Bo’s eyes, but it’s not a .gov website and it sells Bo Obama merchandise. Bo calls President Obama “Master,” and he gets very excited about the prospect of interesting smells, pies and unexpected visitors.

In Wednesday’s post, Bo uses Obama’s morning dressing routine as an allegory for his Afghan war strategy: “He doesn’t just grab something from his closet,” writes Bo. “He takes a few suits out and lays them on his bed with clean shirts tucked under the lapels. Then he drapes them with a collection of ties to see which looks best. He’ll stand back and consider them carefully. If Michelle is around, she’ll offer an opinion. She likes to keep it simple. Dark suit. White shirt. Light blue tie.”

“I don’t get as much respect as I should,” says Bo in an e-mail about the new blog, “but I know the Obamas love me a lot. My Master has really taken to me.”

ITK received a call from the person who is “helping Bo Obama type” his blog, but he declined to give his name. He did say, however, that he is not a White House employee, but that his facts are accurate because “Bo tells me what to type.”

The “typist” also said that he’s surprised by the number of hits to the site so far, which number in the thousands. “It’s incredible, and Bo is very happy about it,” he said.

Good Boy Bo is updated Monday through Friday. Bo Obama can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
