Boehner corrects Obama: I drink wine, not eggnog

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) corrected President Barack Obama on Wednesday after the commander in chief mistook what he saw the lawmaker imbibing at Monday night’s congressional holiday reception at the White House.

“I saw Boehner drinking eggnog,” Obama said. “I don’t know about the rest of you.”

A Boehner source told ITK that the lawmaker prefers merlot, preferably Makham, from California’s Napa Valley.

The exchange came as the president began his meeting on jobs with a bipartisan group of lawmakers.

Obama apparently did not stay at the party very long, but did say “he heard some stories about it.”

Boehner’s had a busy social week: His annual holiday party was held on Tuesday night at Johnny’s Half Shell on Capitol Hill.
