Meet the Lawmaker: Rep. Rosa Delauro (D-Conn.), 3rd District

By Kelly McCormack - 05/30/07 02:23 PM ET
What’s your favorite thing about D.C.?
DeLauro: I love my job. I enjoy what I do. It engages you intellectually and socially with colleagues.

What’s your least favorite thing about D.C.?

DeLauro: The hardest thing is to see how long it takes to get things done.

Who would you want to play you in a movie?

DeLauro: I don’t have a clue.

Who is your favorite actor?

DeLauro: I’m an old movie person. Gary Cooper.

If you could be stuck with one member of Congress on a deserted island, who would it be?
DeLauro: I don’t know. I have a lot of close friends.

If you could bring five people dead or alive to dinner, who would they be?

DeLauro: I love people in the arts and music. I would have loved to see [Mikhail] Baryshnikov dance.

What’s your favorite food?
DeLauro: Pasta. Spaghetti.

What do you do in your free time?
DeLauro: I love to cook.

What sort of food do you cook?
DeLauro: Mostly Italian.

Have you been to Italy?
DeLauro: Yes, many times.

Do you believe in premarital sex?

DeLauro (giggling): I should ask my step kids what they think about that.
