Meet the Lawmaker Rep. Ander Crenshaw (R-Fla.)

By Kris Kitto - 03/23/10 06:29 PM ET

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Rep. Crenshaw: I wanted to be a tree surgeon — you climb up and take the moss out of the trees. That’s a big deal in Florida.

What do you consider your biggest political achievement?

Rep. Crenshaw: Having several little political achievements.

What do you consider your biggest political mistake?

Rep. Crenshaw: Having several little political mistakes.

What has been your craziest constituent request?

Rep. Crenshaw: I get a lot of them. Everybody has a friend that wants to become a citizen, so I get a lot of that.

What’s your favorite hobby?

Rep. Crenshaw: Playing the acoustic guitar. I only know songs from Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

What’s your favorite place in the world?

Rep. Crenshaw: My favorite place is where I live in Jacksonville. I would give you the address, but I’m afraid you’d reveal it.

Who is your favorite lawmaker of the opposite party?

Rep. Crenshaw: I hate to pick favorites. There are three. I don’t want to offend any of my favorite three.

What household chore do you dislike?

Rep. Crenshaw: Taking out the garbage — but I do it. That’s my one job.
