Obama expected to join Clinton on stage after ex-president's speech

President Obama is attending former President Clinton’s speech to the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night.

Obama is expected to appear on stage with Clinton after his speech, sources said.

The president’s plans left hundreds of delegates and members of the media standing outside the Time Warner Cable Arena as police shut down the Brevard Street entrance to the building for 30 minutes. Transportation Security Administration officials manning the metal detectors also shut down the flow of foot traffic.

Obama's campaign said the president would attend Clinton’s highly anticipated address, which would intensify security at the building.

Outside the building people fanned themselves with their credentials on a sweltering night.

"I wish I was inside," said one delegate from Michigan. "Everybody's just hoping to get in at this point."
