Star-studded final night ahead at Democratic National Convention

By Jonathan Easley - 09/06/12 04:08 PM ET

The star-studded final night of speeches and performances is set for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday.

Latin crooner Marc Anthony will sing the national anthem, and the Foo Fighters will also perform.

In addition, actresses Eva Longoria, Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington all have speaking roles.

And one of the Democrats' top stars, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance in a rare public appearance since she sustained injuries resulting from an assassination attempt in 2011.

The vice president and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, are the warm-up speakers before the headliners, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and President Obama.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York and the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, will close out the ceremony with the benediction.
