Crist felt 'really good' about speech
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said he felt "really good" about the speech he gave Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in which he reiterated his support for President Obama.
"I felt really good about it" said Crist, a Republican-tuned-independent, shortly after his remarks as he headed to a suite. "I just hope people understand how important this [election] is."
Crist told The Hill his reception at the Democratic gathering has been "overwhelmingly nice — more than I could've imagined."
"There's a warmth and hospitality here that's unparalleled," he said.
Crist said in his speech that he didn't leave the Republican Party but that the Republican Party left him.
When asked what his supporters thought of his convention speaking slot, he said, "The only thing that really matters is what's in your heart."
