Tom Hanks, George Clooney are heard, not seen, in Charlotte

By Judy Kurtz - 09/06/12 10:46 PM ET

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pair of A-list stars weren't spotted on Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention, but their voices could be heard loud and clear.

Tom Hanks narrated a video tribute to veterans shown on the large screens in Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena.

Back in March, the 47-year-old “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” actor voiced a 17-minute campaign video for President Obama called “The Road We’ve Traveled.”

It’s not the first time Hanks has vocally participated in a political convention — he narrated a similar ode to military vets at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

While George Clooney’s publicist confirmed to The Hill earlier this week that the former “E.R.” heartthrob would not be attending the convention, the celeb was heard Thursday on a video touting Obama’s first-term accomplishments. Clooney narrated the long clip, which aired right before the president delivered his acceptance speech.
