Brokaw: Convention has 'most onerous security I've ever seen'
Tom Brokaw said Monday morning that the security at the Republican convention is "the most onerous I've ever seen."
The author and newsman, who made his remarks on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program, said the security is tighter in Tampa, Fla., this week than it is at the White House.
Brokaw made the case for changing the format of the conventions, which he and others detailed in The New York Times.
Other newscasters on "Morning Joe" weighed in on the heavy police presence around Tampa.
David Gregory of NBC's "Meet the Press" said that delegates will have a tough time maneuvering around the city: "You can't get anywhere because of the security."
NBC's Andrea Mitchell pointed out that umbrellas are not allowed into the convention center.
