Norquist skips speeches in favor of improv in Tampa

By Russell Berman - 08/29/12 11:39 AM ET

Grover Norquist didn't have much to say Wednesday morning about the big speeches by Ann Romney and Gov. Chris Christie (N.J.) on Tuesday.

He hasn't seen them yet.

The prominent anti-tax activist, known for his conservative zingers, told The Hill that he missed the speeches because he was performing improv elsewhere in Tampa. Norquist was a headliner at a show at Centro Ybor, where Rep. Billy Long (R-Mo.) was also scheduled to perform.

Norquist's performance won a positive review from one attendee at his Americans for Tax Reform breakfast on Wednesday, who said he was one of the funniest acts.
