Couple gets engaged on convention stage

By Justin Sink - 08/29/12 01:55 PM ET

On Tuesday night, Ann Romney spoke about love — mentioning the word thirteen times during her primetime address. Apparently a staffer for the Republican National Committee was paying attention.

Bradley Thompson, 32, a production manager for the RNC proposed to his girlfriend, 27-year-old Laura Bowman on the stage of the convention Wednesday morning. Bowman said yes.

As Thompson went to one knee, the 13 LED panels on the stage — described by top Romney aide Russ Schriefer as a "Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired piece of architecture" — flooded with pictures of the couple.

The center screens then read, split over five display panels, "Laura Bowman, will you marry me?"

According to Bowman's Facebook page, the couple live in New York City, where she works for a theater company.
