A longtime supporter of President Trump blasted the president after Democratic leaders in Congress said he agreed to work toward a deal to protect young undocumented immigrants from deportation.

"No wall. DACA enshrined. Trump didn't make a deal w Chuck and Nancy," former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) tweeted.

"Trump got screwed by Chuck and Nancy. Trump just screwed his base."

Walsh said in a series of tweets that he had hoped Trump would do what he promised, but he was wrong. He urged conservatives to fight hard, saying, "We no longer have a friend in the White House."

The comments came after Senate Minority Leader Charles SchumerCharles (Chuck) Ellis SchumerThis week: GOP mulls vote on ‘abolish ICE’ legislation Red-state Dem tells Schumer to 'kiss my you know what' on Supreme Court vote Dem infighting erupts over Supreme Court pick MORE (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a statement following a Wednesday night meeting with Trump that they agreed to "enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

The White House quickly pushed back on that statement, saying that while border security and DACA were discussed, the president didn't agree to exclude funding for the border wall from the package.

Trump also rejected the statement, saying early Thursday there was no deal made on DACA.

In subsequent tweets, Trump appeared to defend DACA recipients, questioning why people would want to throw out "good, educated and accomplished young people."
