Leahy chief of staff moving to White House

By Amie Parnes - 01/13/12 11:05 AM ET

Ed Pagano, the longtime chief of staff for Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), will join the White House staff.

He'll replace Shawn Maher, as Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs, a source tells The Hill.

It's unclear when Pagano will start the job in the White House legislative affairs shop.

The source says Pagano, is "well-regarded" among senators and Senate staff.

Maher had been the deputy director of legislative affairs since the beginning of the administration. He left the White House this fall to run the Washington office of the Royal Bank of Canada.
