Ross, 78, met with Trump Sunday at the president-elect's private New Jersey golf course. 

Trump was asked before the meeting if he was considering Ross for the position.

He said: "That's what we're looking for." 

According to a CNN source, Ross is being considered seriously for the role. 

He would need Senate confirmation if nominated by Trump. 

Ross would not comment on the possibility, only telling CNN he and Trump had "a great conversation." 

Ross made his billions in the steel and coal industries. 

The New Jersey native is worth nearly $3 billion.
