Republican mega-donor Wayne Berman is reportedly a top candidate to serve as U.S. trade representative in President-elect Donald TrumpDonald John TrumpHouse Democrat slams Donald Trump Jr. for ‘serious case of amnesia’ after testimony Skier Lindsey Vonn: I don’t want to represent Trump at Olympics Poll: 4 in 10 Republicans think senior Trump advisers had improper dealings with Russia MORE's administration, according to Politico.

Berman, who is now a senior executive at the Blackstone Group, worked in the Commerce Department under President George H. W. Bush. 

He met with Trump on Monday in Trump Tower, according to Politico.

Before going to Blackstone in 2012, Berman also chaired the government relations department at the K Street firm Ogilvy.

Other people under consideration for the position include David McCormick, the president of Bridgewater Associates; Dan DiMicco, the former chairman of steel giant Nucor Group; and Bob Lighthizer, a longtime trade lawyer and former deputy trade representative.
