Ex-CNN commentator hosts video 'news' segment on Trump Facebook page

Former CNN commentator Kayleigh McEnany hosted a video "news" program over the weekend on President Trump's Facebook page

"Thank you for joining us as we provide you the news of the week from Trump Tower here in New York," McEnany said at the beginning of the segment.

During the video, McEnany, appearing in front featuring Trump's campaign logo and website, touted the recent jobs report.

The economy added 209,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent, the Commerce Department reported Friday. Trump hailed the strong numbers last week, saying he had "only just begun."

"President Trump has clearly steered the economy back in the right direction," McEnany said in the segment.

"On Wednesday, the president introduced the RAISE act," she continued. "For decades, a steady rise in immigration has depressed the wages of American workers."

The legislation, McEnany said, would increase wages, decrease poverty and "save the taxpayers billions."

"American workers deserve a raise and President Trump is finally putting the American worker first," she added.

Trump last week teamed up with two conservative Republican senators for the rollout of new legislation aimed at drastically curbing legal immigration to the U.S.

Last week, Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, hosted a "real news" program on the president's Facebook page in which she also talked about his successes.

Trump often rails on the media and blasts some stories as "fake news."

On Monday morning, he touted the strength of his base, adding that his successes thus far in office have brought his base "even closer together."
