President Trump early Sunday said he will travel to Texas, which has been hit hard by Tropical Storm Harvey.

“I will be going to Texas as soon as that trip can be made without causing disruption,” he tweeted. “The focus must be life and safety.”

Trump earlier in the morning praised the "great talent on the ground" in Texas as well as the coordination between government agencies.

At least five deaths are now blamed on Harvey, which struck the Texas Gulf Coast as a Category 4 storm on Friday night before it was downgraded.

Severe flooding was reported overnight in Houston and other towns in Southeast Texas and hundreds of thousands of people do not have power.

Torrential rain in the region is expected during the next few days.

"Wow - Now experts are calling #Harvey a once in 500 year flood!" Trump tweeted later Sunday. "We have an all out effort going, and going well!"
