Trump targets S. Korea: 'Their talk of appeasement with North Korea will not work'

President Trump targeted South Korea just hours after North Korea's latest nuclear test, saying that "talk of appeasement" with Pyongyang will not work.

"South Korea is finding, as I have told them, that their talk of appeasement with North Korea will not work, they only understand one thing!" Trump tweeted Sunday.

South Korea's president on Sunday called for the "strongest possible" response to North Korea's latest test.

Moon Jae-in also said he wants the United Nations Security Council sanctions to "completely isolate" Pyongyang.

North Korean state television said earlier that a test of a miniaturized hydrogen bomb that could fit in an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was a "perfect success."

Trump earlier this year ramped up his rhetoric on North Korea, calling for "fire and fury" if North Korea continued to threaten the U.S.

Trump on Saturday said he was talking with advisers amid reports he instructed aides to prepare to withdraw the U.S. from its free trade agreement with South Korea.

The Trump administration is considering beginning the formal withdrawal process as early as Tuesday.
