The network reported Wednesday that Tillerson referred to Trump as a "moron" and other administration officials had to urge him not to leave his post.

Tillerson then denied he had ever considered resigning and pushed back on what he called an "erroneous" news report that he was on the verge of quitting. He did not directly answer a question about whether he called the president a "moron."

The State Department later Wednesday strongly denied Tillerson had used the term, saying he doesn't "use that type of language."

Trump also blasted NBC News on Wednesday, calling the network a "disgrace to good reporting" and tweeting it should issue an apology to America.

Earlier Thursday, Trump questioned why the Senate Intelligence Committee wasn't looking into the "Fake News Networks" to learn about "why so much of our news is just made up."
