Perry aide on 2012 decision: 'Nothing has changed'

By Michael O'Brien - 06/23/11 03:53 PM ET

Texas Gov. Rick Perry's (R) timeline for deciding whether to run for president hasn't changed, his spokesman said Thursday.

"Nothing has changed," Mark Miner said in response to a Wall Street Journal story citing an unnamed Republican who said that the Texas governor had decided to enter the 2012 campaign.

"No decision has been made by the governor and he remains focused on the legislative session," Miner said.

Perry's decision is expected to come after the Texas Legislature finishes its special session, which will likely come later this month. After that, Perry is expected to undergo minor back surgery, which could push his timeline back toward early-to-mid-July before he announces his intentions.
