Jimmy Fallon apologizes to Bachmann for intro diss

By Josh Lederman - 11/23/11 10:58 AM ET

Late-night television host Jimmy Fallon took to Twitter to apologize to Michele Bachmann for his band's insulting choice of an introductory song.

In a Monday appearance on Fallon's show on NBC, Bachmann entered the stage to the Fishbone song "Lyin' Ass B----," played by the show's band, The Roots.

"I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back," Fallon wrote on Twitter.

The song choice had been roundly condemned by both Republicans and Democrats. Rep. Nita Lowey, a Democrat from New York, said she disagreed with Bachmann politically but that no woman should have to face such disrespect.

The band's drummer told ABC News that the song was a last-minute decision that the show didn't know about and that he didn't intend to offend Bachmann.

Bachmann has not commented publicly on the late-night flap.
