Dem super-PAC picks up former Kerry presidential campaign head
A Democratic super-PAC has hired Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) 2004 presidential campaign director to be a consultant on strategy and spending.
Mary Beth Cahill will join Priorities USA Action, The Hill confirmed.
Cahill most recently worked for United AutoWorkers (UAW), where she has been the director of the union’s Washington office and national political director for approximately one year. She will continue to have a relationship with the UAW.
“Mary Beth brings an enormous wealth of experience in national campaigns, and we couldn't be happier that she's joining us,” Priorities USA Action senior strategist Bill Burton said in a statement. “As the election draws closer, her expertise in strategy and targeting will be invaluable in ensuring the president's reelection.”
Cahill served under former President Clinton as assistant to the president and as director of the Office of Public Liaison. She also worked under the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) as chief of staff and for EMILY’S List, a pro-abortion-rights political action committee.
Super-PACs can raise unlimited funds but cannot make contributions to federal candidates or committees, nor are they allowed to coordinate with candidates.
