Podesta seemed to taunt WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has taken refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, in the pre-election message.

Thousands of Podesta's emails were published by the site, and he was teased for emailing a risotto recipe.

“1. Still standing and still making risotto,” Podesta wrote in an Oct. 14 tweet.

“2. "3. I bet the lobster risotto is better than the food at the Ecuadorian embassy.”

Assange has been confined to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012 as he faces rape accusations in Sweden. The transparency activist argues the allegations are overblown and are an attempt at getting him extradited to the U.S.

WikiLeaks did not take kindly to Podesta’s joke at the time, replying to the tweet with one of its own criticizing the meal’s opulence.

“Yes, we get it,” a tweet from its official account said. "The elites eat better than the peasants they abuse.”
