Issa’s district office evacuated after report of suspicious device

By Debbie Siegelbaum - 12/01/11 06:22 PM ET

The California district office of Rep. Darrell Issa (R) has been evacuated after a suspicious device was reported Thursday afternoon.

“There was some kind of incident that occurred,” said Issa spokesman Frederick Hill.

Hill declined to offer specifics on the nature of the incident until more information becomes available, but did say that the local authorities were apprised of the situation Thursday afternoon and evacuated Issa’s district office in Vista, Calif., while they investigated the matter.

“We take very seriously the safety of our employees,” Hill added.
