Boehner's photobombing monkey

The August recess is giving Speaker John BoehnerJohn Andrew BoehnerJohn Feehery: A political forest fire Trump's pick for Federal Reserve chief is right choice at right time The two-party system is dying — let’s put it out of its misery MORE a chance to monkey around a bit.

His office posted a YouTube video of the Ohio Republican goofing off with a toy monkey, a gift from his staff after he joked in 2011 that he often felt like a windup toy because of the breakneck pace of his schedule.

“My staff gave it to me,” Boehner says in the video. “Every 15, 30 minutes they come in and wind me up, and I do my thing.”

The cymbals-playing monkey was “a light-hearted token of appreciation (and a less-than-subtle reminder to not use that metaphor again),” according to a post on Boehner’s blog.

Next to Boehner, the monkey — which doesn’t appear to have a name — is the second most photographed subject in the Ohio Republican’s office, a post on his blog said.

The monkey, which typically resides on Boehner’s coffee table, has photobombed the Speaker nearly 30 times, according to his Flickr site, including in a picture with civil rights leader Aung San Suu Kyi and former first lady Laura Bush.
