Waters has been among Trump's most vocal Democratic critics and has often called for his impeachment.

Also in her interview with The Root, Waters accused Trump of being a white supremacist, arguing that his campaign "dog whistled" to white voters in a strategic effort to win votes.

"Basically they targeted this people and they told them: 'Look, everybody else is doing better than you're doing — look at your plight,' " she said. "And they fed them, and this was strategic."
