Drudge slams Washington Post's celebration of record traffic on Trump 'hit'

Matt Drudge took to Twitter Tuesday morning to slam The Washington Post's newsroom for openly applauding record-breaking traffic numbers for its "hit" report that President Trump revealed sensitive information to top Russian diplomats.

"WASHPOST Newsroom staff openly applauding at latest Trump hit finally clarifies how this has turned into nothing but a bloodsport!" the reclusive Drudge Report editor wrote to his 504,000 followers.

The Drudge tweet comes after the Post's Glenn Kessler tweeted Monday night that applause broke out in the newsroom when internet traffic for the Post's exclusive surpassed total reads for its October report on the infamous "Access Hollywood" video that caught Trump's off-camera lewd comments about women back in 2006.

"Applause in the newsroom as the Russia-leak scoop breaks the Hollywood Access record for most readers per minute," Kessler wrote.

He later fact-checked himself, writing he meant that the latest Trump report broke the record for most readers "per second."

Drudge also evoked a Politico report President Obama was "openly applauded" when visiting the Post's newsroom in 2009.

Drudge rarely posts to Twitter and often deletes his tweets a few hours after posting.
