Scarborough: Ailes one of the people who 'impacted American culture and politics'

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who died Thursday, had an important influence on culture and politics in the country.

"If you want to look at the two people that impacted American culture and politics over the past 20 years, you would look at Steve Jobs and Roger Ailes," Scarborough said.

Ailes died Thursday morning at age 77. He resigned as the head of Fox News in July 2016 amid sexual harassment allegations.

The network shared a statement from Ailes's wife, Elizabeth Ailes, announcing the death.

“I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning,” the statement said.
“During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life.”
