Her comments come after an NBC report Wednesday said Tillerson called Trump a "moron" and other administration officials had to urge him not to leave his post.

On Wednesday, Tillerson pushed back against the NBC report during an impromptu news conference.

Tillerson denied he had ever considered resigning and declined to directly answer a question about whether he called the president a "moron."

Later Wednesday, the State Department strongly denied Tillerson had used the term.

Trump took to Twitter early Thursday morning to rip NBC News and dispute the report.

"Rex Tillerson never threatened to resign," Trump tweeted Thursday morning. "This is Fake News put out by @NBCNews. Low news and reporting standards. No verification from me."
