Scarborough mocks Bannon: You only went to Harvard because you couldn’t get into Alabama

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough mocked former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon after Bannon attacked the "Morning Joe" co-host over his education.

"Hey Bannon, you only went to Harvard because you couldn't get into Alabama. #RollDamnTide" Scarborough tweeted.

During a rally for embattled Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore Monday night, Bannon attacked Scarborough by saying he got into better schools than the MSNBC host, including Georgetown University and Harvard University.

Scarborough — who attended the University of Alabama — quickly shot back at Bannon.

In subsequent tweets, Scarborough said: "A Southern Man don't need him around anyhow. #SweetHomeAlabama."

"I reckon if I'd gotten into one of Steve's fancy schools outside of Alabama, I could've been one of them Goldman Sachs populists too," he tweeted.

The exchange comes after Scarborough this past weekend railed against Bannon, saying he portrays himself as a populist while accepting donations and backing from "gazillionaires."

"He is playing this dime-store populist ... wearing like five or six shirts. ... And then he's like, 'Hey, look at me, I'm a man of the people, a man of the people,'" Scarborough said.

Bannon was stumping Monday night for Moore, who is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, ahead of the special Senate election Tuesday against Democrat Doug Jones.
