Rep. Kennedy returns

By Jackie Kucinich - 06/05/06 08:00 PM ET

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) will return to Capitol Hill today to vote after spending several weeks in rehabilitation for an addiction to prescription drugs, according to his press secretary.

Kennedy told listeners at a healthcare conference yesterday in Rhode Island that he had concluded his treatment and was released Friday from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He said he realizes the road to recovery will be long.

“I recognize that ‘concluded’ is not a word I will ever be able to use when it comes to my aftercare,” he said.

Kennedy checked himself into the clinic May 5 after crashing his car into a police barrier while under the influence of prescription drugs in the early morning of May 4.
