Would-be vice chairs tout new supporters

In the latest salvo of a rapidly intensifying battle for vice chair of the House Democratic caucus, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) released a letter yesterday showing nine senior House Democrats backing her candidacy.

Although most of the senior Democrats, all ranking members of House committees, were already publicly declared for Schakowsky, Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.) was a new addition to Schakowsky’s supporter list, which now numbers 47.
