Sunday shows: Talking war on the 4th
The Afghanistan war's biggest Senate boosters -- Joe Lieberman
(I-Conn.), John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) -- will
each headline a Sunday show on July 4.
Lieberman will be on "Fox News Sunday," McCain gets ABC's "This Week" and Graham appears on CBS' "Face the Nation."
The trio of senators, who have strongly backed Petraeus since he oversaw the U.S. troop surge in Iraq, have called for changes to the U.S. civilian team in Afghanistan.
The Rolling Stone story exposed strains between McChrystal and Karl Eikenberry, the U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan. Eikenberry has questioned whether the troop buildup strategy championed by McChrystal and Petraeus would increase the dependency of the Afghan government on the United States.
CNN's "State of the Union" will also focus on the Afghanistan war. Its guests will be Said Tayeb Jawab, the Afghan ambassador to the United States, and three Iraq war veterans in Congress, Reps. John Boccieri (D-Ohio), Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) and Mike Coffman (R-Colo.).
Also on Fox, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) will respond to the week's tiffs between the White House and the GOP. Kenneth Feinberg, appointed to oversee the $20 billion escrow fund in the BP Gulf oil spill, will also talk to Fox.
"Meet the Press" gets a weekend off Sunday so NBC can air live the Wimbledon men's final.
